Kelly & Bill Emerson

July 3, 2004 was the saddest day in our
lives. Our child Jackson Edward Emerson
was born still.  He was born 3 days prior
to his due date. We were devastated.
Shortly thereafter, we found out that
Jackson’s death was due to a blood clott-
ing disorder that I have, MTHFR .

We became acquainted with Share in
September of 2004. While picking up
some brochures for the Walk, I spoke with
Susan for over 2 hours. For the first time
since Jackson’s death, I felt hope.

In October, I introduced Share to my charity group, Kappa Omega. The group all agreed that we needed to have an event to raise money for Share. Hold’em for Hope, a Texas Hold’em Poker tournament was born. Share now gave me a purpose.

We have held 4 annual poker tournaments since November of 2004 and all of the proceeds have benefited Share. During each tournament we have spoken to several people who have either experienced a loss or know of someone that had. Getting the word out about Share is important to us, because we know first hand how Share can help grieving parents.

Share gave us hope and the courage to continue with our lives and realize that Jackson is our angel baby. On September 9, 2005, we welcomed Jackson’s little sister, Jenna Barbara Emerson, and On December 14, 2007, we welcomed Jackson’s younger brother Steven Michael Emerson into the world.
