While Share’s primary purpose is to provide support to grieving parents at the time of and/or following the death of a baby, the secondary purpose is to provide information, education and resources on the needs and rights of bereaved parents and siblings. The objective is to aid those in the community in their supportive role. In order to meet this objective, the National Share Office holds a training workshop twice each year to aid those who work with bereaved parents.
This workshop is open to caregivers working with families during a loss of their baby or anyone who wants to start their own Share group. Attendance from hospital chaplains, social workers, counselors, nurses, and bereaved parents is encouraged. The Sharing and Caring workshop is an 18.25 Contact Hour, 2 day training with 2.5 hours of online content. This online content includes: Watching videos for two sessions (Reflections on Perinatal Loss and Cultural and Social Diversity in Perinatal Bereavement Care), passing a post-test for each video with a score of 80%, and filling out an evaluation for each video. This online work must be complete prior to attendance at the full two-day workshop. You must also participate in small group activities related to these videos throughout the live portions of the workshop. In order to receive your certificate showing the number of Contact Hours you have earned at this workshop, you must: (1)Turn in a signed “Personal Verification of Attendance” form with each session you attended and each video you watched checked off, (2) turn in all post-tests and evaluation forms for each video you watched, (3) turn in evaluation forms for each live session you attended and the full-activity evaluation and (4)participate in small group work. Your certificate will be sent to you within 4 weeks of completion of the workshop.
